USA Hockey Officiating Seminars

TWO SEMINARS ADDED

Earn While You Learn! – officiating is a great way to earn money and serve the community while you are a student.

We will be conducting two final Level 1 and Level 2 officiating seminars in the Atlantic District in December. These will be the last two seminars for the season.

Both seminars will be a hybrid format with a Zoom classroom session and then an in person on-ice component. Both sessions are mandatory to get credit for completing your seminar attendance.

New Jersey Seminar

  • • Zoom session: December 7, 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm
  • • Ice Session: December 29, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, Ice Vault (Wayne, NJ)

 

Pennsylvania Seminar

  • • Zoom session: December 7, 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm
  • • Ice Session: December 27, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, IceLine (West Chester, PA)

 

Details

  • • Each session is limited to 50 participants, registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
  • • New officials must have skates and a helmet for the ice session, returning officials must be dressed in full officiating gear.

 

Registration deadlines:

  • • Register with USA Hockey no later than December 4 (there is a 24-hour waiting period before you can then register for a seminar)
  • • Register for the seminar no later than 6 pm on December 6 (seminar registration closes 24 hours prior to the seminar and will not be re-opened)

How do I get on the ice????

 

This is a guide to get you on the ice as a new level 1 official.

Level 1 Registration Requirements

Once all of these steps are complete you will get a card and crest in the mail.

1. Register as an official with USA Hockey - https://membership.usahockey.com/

Note: Your officials number doesn't contain any letters and will come in an email with the subject "USA Hockey Officiating Information".

3. Register and Attend a seminar - Registration is through the Course Portal http://courses.usahockey.com - Click on USA Hockey Courses at the top of the page after logging in.

4. Complete your open book exam through the courses portal

5. Complete SafeSport if your birth year is 2005 or earlier - https://www.usahockey.com/safesportprogram

After you get your card and crest:

1. Register for an assigning system – Directions are at the links below

2. Set your availability (when you are able to work games) and your rink preferences (where you are willing to work). It is important to keep this information up to date.

3. Contact your local assignor by email or phone (THIS MUST BE DONE BY THE OFFICIAL NOT A PARENT)
